Paper Crane Psychology is a North Brisbane based family-focused psychology service, for children, adolescents and individuals. Our team is passionate about empowering individuals to overcome mental health difficulties and challenging life experiences. Our psychologists take a warm, gentle, non-judgmental approach to assist our clients to build adaptive skills and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing. We adopt a flexible approach, and tailor evidence-based therapies that are dependent on each individual client’s presentations, preferences and goals. At Paper Crane we walk alongside individuals on their journey to wellness enabling you to can gain insight, embrace your authenticity, feel inspired and realise your goals. We have chosen to use the paper crane as our symbol as the paper crane is seen as a symbol of hope, inspiration and enlightenment. Our psychologists have experience across a range of issues such as anxiety, bullying, drug use, depression, anger management, family conflict, parenting, emotional intelligence, weight loss counselling, personality vulnerabilities, social skills training, family separation, stress management, personal growth, insight development and coaching.

Children

Children experience emotional issues such as anxiety, stress and depression just like adults do. Paper Crane psychologists strive to provide therapy/intervention sessions that facilitate in the alleviation of these feelings. We provide a child-focused space and utilise therapeutic approaches that are specialised to children such as play therapy.

Adolescents

Paper Crane psychologists are specialists in working with adolescents and have over 10 years of experience working with adolescents. Teenagers can sometimes find it difficult to communicate the way that they are feeling. Paper Crane psychologists are skilled in engaging with teens and providing teenagers with a space where they feel comfortable to open up, and talk about their concerns.

Individuals

Our team is passionate about empowering individuals to overcome mental health difficulties and challenging life experiences. Our psychologists take a warm, gentle, non-judgmental approach to assist our clients to build adaptive skills and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing. Clinical Psychologist (BAPsych (Hons,1), MCouns, MClinPsych, MAPS)
Hayley is a registered Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about empowering people to overcome mental health difficulties and challenging life experiences. Hayley has degrees in the fields of both clinical psychology and counselling having been awarded a Master of Clinical Psychology degree and Master of Counselling degree. Hayley takes a warm, gentle and non-judgmental approach to assist her clients to build adaptive skills and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing. Hayley has a special interest in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression and mood disorders, stress and self-esteem issues.
Matthew  Sampson

Psychologist (B.Bus (mkg & mngt), GD psychological studies, BPsychSc(Hons) MOrgPsy, MAPS)
Matthew is a registered psychologist with experience working in non for profit and government agencies with young offenders, homeless youth and adolescents displaying challenging behaviours. He has previously developed an anger management program, and facilitated this program throughout southeast Queensland, as well as a program counteracting bullying. Matthew has achieved a Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours degree from the Australian Catholic University and a Master of Organisational Psychology degree awarded through Griffith University. Matthew currently has limited availability and a differing pricing structure to our other psychologists.

Nikki Stevens
Nikki Stevens

Nikki Stevens is a Registered Psychologist with experience working with adults and young adults with a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress, as well as relationship and school-related issues. Nikki primarily practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also applying elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Positive Psychology. Using these evidence-based approaches, she equips her clients with strategies and skills to cope with their struggles and create rich and fulfilling lives in the long term. Nikki adopts a warm, person-centered, collaborative approach to develop a strong therapeutic alliance, in order to help her clients achieve their goals and desired therapy outcomes. During session, she gives clients the opportunity to explore their problems in a validating, non-judgmental, and supportive environment. She finds it incredibly rewarding to watch her clients progress and leave with skills that would help them throughout their lives. Nikki has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) at the University of Queensland, a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Southern Queensland, and a Master of Organisational Psychology at Griffith University.
